As United Methodists:

Our Vision
Believing that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and acknowledging that every person is a child of God, we desire to know, understand and share the gospel with all of God's children by our words and actions.

Our Mission Statement
Our mission at Wesley United Methodist Church is to be a family of disciples of Jesus Christ who work to bring Jesus to the world as their caring and loving refuge.

How We Minister
As living examples of Christ, we will be a welcoming community.  We will equip disciples for Jesus Christ.  We will study, preach, and teach the Word.  We will pray, praise, worship and participate in fellowship.  We will reach out and give to those in need, providing nurture and comfort.
All Christians, lay and clergy, are called to ministry in the world.  At Wesley United Methodist Church our clergy and laity work together to fulfill our common vision and mission.  Clergy and staff strive to help equip laity with the tools necessary to fulfill the various ministries into which they have been called.
(paraphrased from Guidelines, Abingdon Press.  Nashville, TN 2004)

Who We Are As United Methodists:
The United Methodist denomination of the Christian faith exists throughout the world.  John Wesley founded Methodism in the 1700's as a reform to the Church of England.

Today, we are a denomination with millions of members, residing across every continent.  As United Methodists we share a common heritage with Christians of every age and nation.  This heritage is grounded in the apostolic witness to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

As United Methodists we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the
Church's life and witness.  To fulfill this obligation, we reflect critically on our biblical and theological inheritance, striving to express faithfully the witness we make in our own time.

Two considerations are central to this endeavor:  the sources from which we derive our theological affirmations and the criteria by which we assess the adequacy of our understanding and witness.  Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.

We are an inclusive denomination that endeavors to become a community in which all persons can participate in every level of our connectional life and ministry.  As United Methodists we have struggled with a number of critical issues, creating and refining theological and mission statements, as well as social principles that speak to human issues of our contemporary world.  We seek to be engaged actively in the world, praising God through Jesus Christ and seeking further grace as we minister to the world.
