Wesley welcomed our Pastor Rev. Sam Cutrone and his family in June '07. We are sharing Pastoral services with Alexander UMC and also joined them in a welcome lunch on June 10th @ Alexander. Sam's first service was the 9:30am service on June 10th.

Wesley's 50th Anniversary
A fish fry was held in honor of the 50th anniversary of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan, Texas on October 29, 2005.
A good time was had by all and the food was wonderful! A fun time of fellowship and remembrance was included with the fish meal and great music.

Wesley's annual Chili Day was held on November 10th and was a blessed record breaking success again this year. The week saw a flurry of Chili Day related activity, everything from setting up the auctions to baking cakes to chopping onions. When the day finally arrived, it arrived early with the warm temps this year didn't affect the sales, they were up! At 4 am our volunteers started cooking. No matter whether you preferred mild or spicy, the chili, beans, and desserts were delicious and highly complimented. A steady stream of "customers" came through both the dine-in and to-go order areas all day.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to all the volunteers (some came from as far away as Oklahoma, yay Phyllis) who helped make Wesley's annual fundraiser a success! Special thanks goes out to all the local businesses and vendors who helped make this event happen with their generous donations. Smiling faces were everywhere from Ms Jean taking tickets at the front door again this year to Jay and the crew at the back door setting up the "to go" orders.

Again this year Sandra and Kin did a great job handling the auctions. There were some great items up for sale in our silent and live auctions. The live auction which began at 2 pm with our own lively (and persuasive) auctioneer Jay was not only greatly successful but fun and entertaining. The funds raised topped last year's totals with a rough total of $12,000. Out top seller was (with good reason!) the Sew-n-Sews' largest hand-stitched quilt. The funds of the Annual Chili Day fundraiser are used for general expenses of Wesley United Methodist Church, with 10% of the total funds being put back to work in other charitable organizations. Start saving your money now for next year's auctions!
